Canada based Leading Edge Materials (TSXV: LEM, OTCQB: LEMIF) which aspires to become a sustainable supplier of a variety of critical materials and known for its flagship asset is the Woxna Graphite production facility located in central Sweden has reportedly completed an engineering study to design and support the safe and efficacious installation of a battery graphite demonstration plant on the Woxna mine site. With the rationale of purification and spheronisation of appr. 100kg of graphite anode per day the demonstration plant was constructed.

January 2020 – Plans for Launching Commercials Activities

Headquartered in Canada Nouveau Monde Graphite (TSXV: NOU, OTCQX: NMGRF) which owns the Matawinie graphite project, located in the municipality of Saint-Michel-des-Saints, approximately 150 km north of Montreal, Canada had announced that plans for launching the production of micronized and spheronized graphite at the Saint-Michel-des-Saints demonstration plant during the first quarter of 2020 for process optimization and product qualification for prospective consumers

January 2020 – Participant Agreement Formalization

Australia-based EcoGraf Limited (ASX: EGR) has reportedly formalized a Participant Agreement with the Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre which is based out of Curtin University, Perth to aid in the provisioning of the technology needed to identify opportunities for more efficient battery minerals’ extraction and refinement. Further, the company had announced that its unique eco-friendly graphite purification technology at its then planned Kwinana development would provide critical material for FBI CRC research programs.

EcoGraf announced the signing of LOI with GR Engineering Services Limited (ASX: GNG) for a contract for the development of a 20,000tpa battery graphite facility in Western Australia that comprises engineering, procurement, and construction.

January 2020 – Scaling -Up of Active Anode Supply

Talga Resources (ASX: TLG, GR: TGX, OTCPK: TLGRF) which is known to build a European source of battery anode and graphene additives to make graphitic products commercially available which are also instrumental to its customers’ innovation and fundamental to facilitate a shift towards a more sustainable world, has announced the successful completion of 60 tons pilot-scale processing program producing graphite concentrate. Moreover, the latter is the feedstock for the European battery anode refinery planned by Talga and its continuing customer development programs.

February 2020 – Achievement of Graphite Purity

Ceylon Graphite (TSXV: CYL, GR: CCY, OTC: CYLYF) had announced the achiever of 99.9997% Cg purity utilizing an environmentally responsible and sustainable thermal purification process which doesn’t involve the use of acids (like Hydrofluoric acid), with vein graphite from its K1 Mine.

February 2020 – Commercial Agreement Fulfilment

Magnis Energy Technologies Ltd (ASX: MNS) announced that its partners US lithium-ion battery technology group, Charge CCCV aka C4V of which Magnis owns 10% has fulfilled a commercial agreement with MARTAC is an innovative provider of the MANTAS line of Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USV) for military, security, commercial and scientific missions, and markets, by meeting another order of batteries form MARTAC.

February 2020 – Positive Testwork of Ancuabe Graphite

A major producer of value-added graphite products that is based out of China called Xincheng Graphite Co. Ltd has reportedly conducted a positive testwok for Ancuabe graphite which confirms its suitability for the premium-priced graphite foil, refractory and flame-retardant markets.
