Mexico Poultry Feed Market Size, Share, Opportunities, COVID-19 Impact, And Trends By Type (Layer, Broiler, Turkey, Others), By Raw Materials (Soya, Canola, Rendered Meal), And By Additives Systems (Antibiotics, Vitamins, Antioxidants, Amino Acids, Feed Enzymes, Feed Acidifiers) - Forecasts From 2022 To 2027

Published:  Jun 2022 Report Code: KSI061612565 Pages: 86

The Mexico poultry feed market was evaluated at US$6,376.456 million for the year 2020, growing at a CAGR of 3.94%, reaching a market size of US$8,355.024 million by the year 2027.

Farmers use the poultry feed to feed poultry birds including chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys, and other domestic birds. Modern feed is prepared by carefully selecting and blending components to provide a highly nutritious diet that maintains the health of poultry birds while also boosting the quality of end products like meat and eggs. Minerals, vitamins, carbohydrates, proteins, and water are the most important nutrients for poultry birds' development, reproduction, and health. The majority of the energy necessary for development comes from carbohydrates and fats. Chicken protein is also a significant source of energy for chickens, particularly when carbohydrate and fat intake are low.

In the predicted period of 2020-2027, rising preferences for animal protein, global growth of the egg and poultry industries, rising population, rising health awareness regarding protein consumption, and the per capita consumption of meat are some of the factors that will certainly boost the growth of the Mexican poultry feed market. Meat consumption in Mexico has increased dramatically year after year, according to the US Department of Agriculture. It turned out to be 8.65 million metric tonnes in 2018 from 8.13 million metric tonnes in 2016. According to the Alltech feed survey 2019, Mexico has 547 mills as of 2019 and is anticipated to produce 36.2 million metric tonnes of feed, with the poultry market producing the most feed. Furthermore, the prevalence of low-cost feed and expanding consumer preferences for white meat would further increase the numerous prospects for the poultry feed market to grow throughout the projection period.

On the other hand,  volatility in raw material prices, as well as environmental concerns, are expected to stymie the poultry feed market's expansion throughout the forecast period.

In recent years, the broiler category has grown to become the largest by type. Growing demand for chicken meat due to its high protein content has emerged as a major driver of industry expansion. Broilers are raised solely to produce meat. Broiler farming is growing in response to the rising demand for chicken meat, which is fueled by the availability of protein-rich meat at a low cost. One of the most critical aspects of broiler farming is proper nutrition. In the Mexican poultry feed market, the layer category, on the other hand, is ranked as the second-largest section. The primary purpose of layer farming is to produce eggs. As the world's population grows, so does the demand for food and energy, increasing food production around the world. The key demand drivers for the expansion of the layer category are rising per capita egg consumption and worldwide population growth.

In recent years, the amino acid in the additives segment has emerged as the largest in terms of volume and revenue, and it is expected to increase at a rapid rate in the coming years. Because amino acids are one of the most essential sources of protein, they are extremely important in poultry nutrition. Amino acid helps minimize the amount of soy protein in a monogastric animal's diet due to its high protein content.

Mexico is predicted to develop at a substantial CAGR over the forecast period. The Mexican animal feed market is being driven by rising meat consumption and rising demand for milk and dairy products. Mexico's poultry industry produces a wide range of broiler-type chickens for the production of meat, including smaller broilers for rotisserie eateries, fowl for processing into poultry parts, processed meat, or ready-to-cook goods, as well as whole chickens. Due to increased local demand, greater domestic price power as long-standing tariff-rate-quota allocations lapse, and somewhat less unpredictable feed costs, chicken meat, eggs, and egg products remain the most popular and inexpensive animal protein among Mexican households. Furthermore, Mexico remains one of the world's largest consumers of eggs and egg products, and its demand will continue to rise as consumers react to rising meat prices, owing to steady domestic demand, improved layer hen genetics, and investments in egg production technology and management.

COVID-19 Impact

Limitations aimed at managing the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the closure of poultry feed companies in Mexico, resulting in a feed shortage for cattle farmers. The poultry feed industry thrived afterwards, owing to exemptions from lockdown laws and an increase in poultry meat consumption. According to Alltech Agri-Food Outlook 2022, Mexico was amongst the top ten feed-producing countries with a total feed production of 38.857 mmt. Furthermore, Mexico has consolidated its position as the world's fifth-largest feed producer, with 37.6 million metric tonnes produced annually, according to the Mexican Feed Manufacturers Council (Conafab) annual report yearbook 2021. Between 2017 and 2021, the 611 feed mills with a total installed capacity of 43.5 million metric tons—nearly 90% of which is used—produced at a 3.8 percent annual rate, pandemic included.  Feeds for all types of livestock have grown.

Recent Development

SYNCRA, a chicken feed supplement developed by DuPont de Nemours and Company, was announced in March 2019 to improve the digestibility of nutrients in poultry production.

Nutrition21 announced in June 2021 that, through their Innovative Solutions business unit, Kent Nutrition Group, an Iowa-based animal nutrition production company and a subsidiary of Kent Corporation, will be the entirely private distributor of Nutrition21's Chromax chromium tripicolinate to the North American swine food market.
