An electric shaver can be defined as an electrical device, which is used for shaving purposes, for the removal of unwanted hair from one’s body with oscillating or rotating blades behind a metal guard. Electric shavers provide the most convenient means of shaving and generally are of two types - foil shavers and rotary shavers. In a foil electric shaver, two or more cutting blades, arranged on top of the device move back and forth in a vibrating mode, under a protective foil with small holes, to catch and trim the body hair. The other kind is the rotary shaver, which on its faceplate has one or more round cutting heads with blades rotating under a grid with holes where the hair is collected and is cut off by the rotating cutting blades.

Smaller increases in real household income per capita were also observed in Ireland (3.6%), Australia (2.7%), and Finland (1.1%) among other nations.

Therefore, with an increase in disposable incomes all around the world coupled with the temporary closures of salons and beauty parlors due to pandemic-induced lockdowns, the demand for electric shavers is expected to increase substantially, further propelling its demand during the forecast period.

By distribution channel, the electric shavers market is segmented into online and offline. The growing smartphone and internet penetration is one of the major drivers of the online channel of distribution. As per the latest Office for National Statistics released in August 2019, of all adults, 87% used the internet daily in 2019, with an additional 4% of adults using it at least weekly. While there was a 2 percentage increase in daily use since 2018, it has risen by 32 percentage points in the last decade.
