In addition to the high levels of potato production, potato consumption in Saudi Arabia is also substantial. According to Faostat, potato consumption per capita in the country reached 19.1 kg in 2020, which is an 11.9% increase from the previous year. This high consumption rate places Saudi Arabia at 89th place among 161 countries in terms of interest rate on potato consumption per capita. Furthermore, according to data from the United States Department for Agriculture (USDA) Economic Research Service, the overall agricultural output of Saudi Arabia has grown significantly from US$ 5.20 billion in 2010 to US$ 7.08 billion in 2019. This remarkable growth in the agricultural sector can be attributed to the various factors that have contributed to the increase in potato production and yields, including the use of modern farming technologies, high-quality seeds and fertilizers, new potato varieties, and government support for the agricultural sector. These factors, combined with the rising popularity of mashed potatoes in the country, have led to the growth of the mashed potato market in Saudi Arabia.
